3:35 York – HIGHFIELD PRINCESS

Bookmarked this horse last year when she won this race. It was a breathtaking performance. She likes to race right in behind a strong early gallop and the faster they go in front over 5f’s the better. She is drawn in stall 6 and the horses who are likely to go forward are drawn in stalls 4, 7 and 8 – so she’s right in amongst all all of the likely early pace. I think this trip, along with a strong early gallop brings out her very best and I fancy her strongly. Win bet at 13/8

In the same race I am also putting up KHAADEM as an each-way bet at 20/1 (5 places). This horse is a smooth traveller and a strong stayer so if they go a break neck gallop in front then I can see this one running into a place under a typical Jamie Spencer ride. Was 4th in this race last year but was ridden prominently that day. With a slightly change of tactics I really like Khaadem’s chances of getting a place at big odds. Each-Way bet at 20/1 (5 places)

7:30 Hamilton – ELEGANT ERIN

Looking to take on Mojomaker here as I think he’s a bit of a dog. He won comfortably at Sandown very early on his career but since then he’s been on an 18 race losing streak, where his rating has remained in the 80’s. He’s the likely pace setter here and I do think he’s drawn well to attack. However, he’s unproved over the distance and he’s unproven on ground with soft in it. Elegant Erin has ran twice at Hamilton previously and has ran respectively having been poorly drawn. Today she’s in major’s office in stall 7, she’s proven on the ground and she’s drawn right next to the horses who are certain to go forward. Win bet at 2/1

8:05 Hamilton – GLORIOUS RIO

Stella Barclay is a trainer in good form with 4 wins in the last 14 days. Glorious Rio is a horse who always comes to hand late summer/early autumn. In fact, all of his wins have came in August/September/October and 5 of them have came in August. He won this race in 2021. He handles ground with cut in it. He has a good draw in stall 5 and the stiff finish here is just what he’ll need to turn the form around with Wee Fat Mac. That horse is also 0-5 at this course and is maybe better on the all-weather.
