When we started TheBetCommunity we had three people running things. Due to work commitments it is now only myself who runs the website and Twitter page. I’m sure you can appreciate it takes up a lot of my time. My plan is to continue as a free tipster. I enjoy researching my selections and providing winners for all of you guys. I know by the direct messages and emails I receive that there are plenty of you who appreciate my efforts and if you wish to buy me a beer then you can do so by clicking the yellow box. You are under no obligation to do so, it’s completely your choice. Thanks in advance.

Day One of the Cheltenham Festival. Below is my thoughts on how the day will go, along with a selection in each race. Right at the bottom I’ll give you my NAP of the day.

1:30 – SkyBet are doing a money back as cash offer and I’ve sided with FIREFOX. I like the way he jumps and although he ran below par last time out, I’m willing to excuse that run as it was over slightly further than his optimum trip. I think he’ll be bang behind the pace and I think his slick jumping will carry him into the race. A few of these have been quite novicey at their hurdles and the way FIREFOX jumps – I can’t see this one not being right there off the final bend to be honest. Whether or not he has the class to win remains to be seen, but hopefully they go a good gallop in front and Jack Kennedy can pull him out to have a crack at the front runners in the final furlong.

Selection – FIREFOX

2:10 – I’ve gone for QUILIXIOS who I think jumped really soundly at Naas last time out. I think this is a really open race and QUILIXIOS is a pervious Festival winner, will be right in behind a good gallop, will handle the ground and gets slightly further than this. Pretty much like the last write up, I’m hoping his solid jumping carries him into the race and I’m hoping that Rachel Blackmore can deliver the horse at the perfect time to have a crack at the front runners. A solid each-way chance in my opinion.

Selection – QUILIXIOS

2:50 – I’m really sweet on the chances of CHIANTI CLASSICO in this race. Typically a really difficult race to call but I think Kim Bailey’s horse has a superb chance. The way he jumped and travelled at Chepstow was impressive. He then won at Ascot in a small field before finishing 2nd at Kempton in a race where I don’t think it was run to suit. He was wide all the way around and I don’t think they went a strong gallop at all in a relatively small field. This race in my opinion looks certain to suit and with a clear round I’ll be really surprised if he’s not there swinging off the final bend. The quicker they go in front the better. I would back him each-way and he would be my NAP of the day.

Selection – CHIANTI CLASSICO

3:30 – STATE MAN will win this but there’s little value in taking the 1/3 fav. I’d be looking to play the forecast with Iberico Lord who will relish the forecast rain.

Selection – STATEMAN / IBERICO LORD FORECAST

4:10 – Similar to the last race, the fav will very likely win – LOSSIEMOUTH. But there’s little value. Instead I’ll again look for a forecast bet and I’ve sided with LOVE ENVOI at nice odds to give the fav most to think about. She has a good record at the course (1 win and two 2nd’s), will relish the forecast rain and gets a little bit further than this.

Selection – LOSSIEMOUTH / LOVE ENVOI FORECAST

4:50 – Taking a chance on NARA here at a big price. It wouldn’t be the most confident of selections but her run at Naas last time out, where she carried a 7lb penalty, screamed prep run. She’s a winner in France on heavy ground, she’s in here off a nice weight and her trainer is in good form. Small each-way bet.

Selection – NARA

5:30 – CORBETT’S CROSS started favourite for the Albert Bartlett last year. He was a little bit behind the leaders before running out at the last. It’s that form that edges it ahead of Embassy Garden’s for me. I don’t think there’s a great deal in it between the two mentioned horses on chase form, but that Cheltenham run last year just swings it for me – as Embassy Garden’s was pulled up in the same race.

Selection – CORBETT’S CROSS

1:30 – Firefox
2:10 – Quilixios
2:50 – Chianti Classico (NAP)
3:30 – State Man
4:10 – Lossiemouth
4:50 – Nara
5:30 – Corbetts Cross
