Tip 1.

Union Berlin to win / German Bundesliga II - 4.30pm KO

Union Berlin could well be in the Bundesliga next season. There’s 4 sides battling it out and none can afford any slip ups. They’ve won 9 of their 13 home games this season, scoring 24 goals and conceding just 8. They lost away at the weekend to Hannover who have now gone top of the tree and Union Berlin will be looking to get back to winning ways on home soil this afternoon where they’ve won their last 5 on the bounce.

The visitors Erzgebirge Aue are in serious trouble sitting 2nd from bottom. They’ve picked up recently are now unbeaten in 4 games. Those 4 games have all been against sides in the lower half of the table and they will really be up against it v Union Berlin. On the road they have failed to win in 8 games, managing just 1 clean sheet during that time. Union Berlin have only failed to score once at home all season and although I can see it being quite tense in the early stages with a lot at stake, Berlin’s class should prevail and the 3 points should be heading their way.

Liverpool to win / Premier League - 7.45pm KO

After a blip in form Liverpool have really got back into the swing of things of late and are in a great position to secure a Champions League spot for next year. They’ve won 3 of their last 4 games and have lost just once in 23 league games at Anfield. They’ve found the net twice or more in 10 of their last 12 games at home and host a Bournemouth side who have one of the worst defensive records on the road in the league.

Conceding on average 2.07 goals per game on their travels Bournemouth will be up against it tonight. They’ve won just 2 on their travels this season and despite a great point away to Southampton at the weekend I think tonight they will be extremely fortunate to head back down south with anything.

Real Madrid to win / Spain - 8.30pm KO

The form Real Madrid are in it’s very hard to see anything other than a win this evening. A win could see them go 5 points clear, but with Barcelona playing at home a couple of hours before the chances are Barca will be 1 point clear come KO so it’s another must win game for Zidane’s side. Madrid have now won their last 5 games on the bounce in all competitions, scoring a whopping 20 goals in their last 7 games. They average 2.69 goals per game on the road and have found the net in every game this season.

As for the hosts, Leganes have drew their last 3 games and sit 5 points clear of the relegation zone. They are the league’s lowest scorers averaging a pretty terrible 0.79 goals per game. That doesn’t read too well when you’re facing the 2nd highest goalscoring team in the league with the 3rd best defence on their travels. Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema are all fit and I just can’t see anything other than a convincing win for Real tonight.

Tip 2.

Dwight Gayle to score at anytime for Newcastle v Burton / Championship - 7.45pm KO

Despite a couple of injuries this season Dwight Gayle has bagged a very impressive 22 goals in 29 appearances. 14 of them have been on home soil where he’s contributed to 36% of goals scored for Newcastle at St James’ Park. Just 2 goals behind the league’s leading scorer in Chris Wood, Gayle will be quietly confident he can grab the Golden Boot. Newcastle average over 2 goals per game at home and if Gayle gets chances he usually puts them away.

Konstantonis Mitroglou to score at anytime for Benfica v Estoril / Portuguese Cup - 8.15pm KO

Benfica’s leading goalscorer, Mitroglou has found the net 14 times in 21 league appearances but it’s his record in the Taca de Portugal cup which really stands out. The 29 year old has scored a whopping 9 goals in just 4 appearance in this cup this year, contributing to 53% of Benfica’s goals in this competition. Benfica should run out comfortable winners tonight and although Mitroglou is a short enough price I’ll be surprised if he’s not on the score sheet.
